Story
I'm taking on 100 miles in April! I'm challenging myself to walk 100 miles throughout April while also raising money to rebuild lives after stroke.
April 5th 2023 changed my life forever. Never would I of expected to have a stroke at 33. It came out the blue and scared us all. Luck was on my side and I received the most amazing care and treatment within the vital early hours, without this I wouldn’t have made the full recovery that some people sadly don’t. I was totally paralysed down my right hand side and couldn’t speak for a week. I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to tell my babies I love them again, or be the Mum I was before.
I am taking on this challenge one year on to inspire others and raise money to help other stroke survivors. Some of the money raised helps provide research into the same treatments I received such as the thrombolysis and thrombectomy. Strokes don’t just affect you physically it is the mental side that really is the toughest thing. Why me? Will it happen again? Is this headache normal? Even a year on I still have these thoughts.
For lots of people 100 miles would be easy. However everyone who knows me. The only place I’d be happy to walk around is Bluewater 😂 🛍️
Thank you to everyone for all of your support over the past year. I am overwhelmed with you all and forever grateful 💜

100 miles in April is a fun way for us all to keep active and raise vital funds to help rebuild lives after stroke. Your fundraising can help in incredible ways:• £150 could help pay for research into new stroke treatments, such as thrombolysis, a clot-busting drug that returns the blood supply to the brain that has transformed the outcomes of stroke survivors who have received it.• £250 could pay for one hour of Helpline activity, helping the families of stroke survivors support their loved ones after stroke.• £300 could enable a Co-ordinator to demonstrate how to use My Stroke Guide to a stroke survivor, empowing them to take control of their recovery and feel less isolated
