I completed the Marathon des Sables, 242 km across the Sahara Desert, from 28 March to 7 Apr 2008 to raise money for Headley Court Rehabilitation Centre , to help all those severely injured servicemen and women who are there, fighting the hardest battle of their lives. It was great to finish in the top third together with a friend from Australia, Will Sheane. He ran to keep me company!
Although so many generous people have allowed us to meet the increased target of £7k, "Help for Heroes" needs as much as possible to help these brave men and women, so please don't stop adding donations. They'll help with the tremendous demands put on individuals and families to regain a fulfilling life. If you're a UK taxpayer the tax on your on-line donation will be reclaimed and added to it! Every penny you see on this page will go to "Help for Heroes".
I was kept going by the thought of your generous support. If you'd like to see how the run went type in http://www.darbaroud.com/index_uk.php. Loads of info.
Apparently this year's was the hardest race in the history of the event. It certainly felt like it and it was good to end up 290th of about 800 runners.
