Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Earlier this year I went to Afghanistan and encountered soldiers who were under immense pressure in Helmand. After returning to the UK I've met many who are suffering the consequences of the recent conflict. Some have lost limbs as a result of landmines, others are struggling with the psychological damage that war has caused. Insiders within the military are critical of the Government who say not enough support is given when they return home.
The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) is the Soldiers' Charity. They provide support to soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need.
They work in partnership with Regimental and Corps Benevolent Funds and in co-operation with other Service charities. They identify and investigate eligible cases in "real need", and provide them with financial support.
To raise money I am running the Lochness Marathon. It's been four years since my last (and only) one. I've been training for the last few months and whatever the weather (lets face it ....probably rain) I'll finish it.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Army Benevolent Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
