Story
I am running the great north run in 2013 for Make-A-Wish which is a charity I am very fond of. They make wishes come true to children and young adults who sometimes don't have a lot to look forward to.
So why Make-A-Wish? A few years ago our youngest child Charlie was tested for leukemia. After a week of no sleep we got the results and we were lucky and he is OK. That heart stopping moment made me think what can I do to make a difference. We can all make a difference to children who are not a lucky as Charlie was. Lets give these children something to put a smile on their face and an experience they will never forget.
For many families the Make-A-Wish memory can be the last happy memory they have of their child having fun in a magical world, surrounded by family and friends – rather than memories of days and weeks of painful treatments and hospitalisation. The memory of the wish may be of their child laughing and enjoying being a princess or zoo keeper for the day or meeting a favourite celebrity. In years to come, the family can look back and remember that special time.
Please take a look at their website (www.make-a-wish.org.uk) to read about some of the wishes they have granted. Most of us are very lucky and we have healthy children. We can all make a difference and make a wish come true for some children who really deserve it.
Last time we raised over £1,500 including the gift aid. This year I want to raise even more. So please dig deep and give as much as you can.
