Story
I'm running the TCS London Marathon for Dementia UK. A few years ago, my mum was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. We as a family have witnessed her deteriorate dramatically and in 2021 she had to move into a care home, which was very upsetting for our family. She is now in a home where she is amazingly well looked after, but it is still a difficult time.
I am running the marathon in the hopes of raising money to help fund research to help finally combat this terrible disease and help other families like my own cope with the reality behind this diagnosis.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity in support of nurses, called Admiral Nurses, who provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
All donations will be greatly appreciated and I value all your support!!
Thanks so much,
Jon
