Story
Edit: all the below is true, just a year further along after the swim was postponed last year due to safety concerns around the Queen’s funeral. All being well I will be in the frigid but calm waters of Hyde park this year.
I achieved a life time ambition in running the London marathon, and was able to do it for a charity very close to me. After a Covid pandemic enforced break my new focus is the London Classics Medal (London Marathon, 2 mile Serpentine swim,
100 mile ride London). The next leg of this for me is the swim. This will definitely be the hardest section for me. I used to swim a lot when younger but have lapsed since. I am also dreadful at open water swimming and in a triathlon had a kayak dedicated to me because I went off course so much, so this will be quite something. I will need to train for swimming a lot more than two miles.
I am also doing this for a charity close to me. I have long been a supporter. They do a lot of work with my hospital trust and I have long been an admirer of the house they have opposite our cancer center (Paul's House) as a place for families out of London to stay to support their child going through the hardest and darkest time of their life. Most importantly to me they were also there for my friend, Zeke, when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. They provided essential support to him and his family.
It is once again an honour to raise money in the name of this not so little anymore, legend!
