Story
I'm supporting Bowel Cancer UK this year in my running because I've seen family & friends affected by this disease. I know survivors. I know people who have lost the fight against this because they didn't know until too late. We need better diagnosis and better awareness of symptoms.
I'm so excited to be able to take part in the SimplyHealth Great North Run again this year. It's such a great event and being part of the World's Largest Half Marathon is such a buzz.
To get me there I've signed up to a number of events in 2019 to lead me up to the 'big one'. One of those is the EMA2Notts event with the charity fundraising legend that is Reg O'Reilly. We'll be running all the way from East Midlands Airport back to Nottingham City Centre to raise money & awareness of Bowel Cancer in the East Midlands. Proud to be part of #TeamReg. In the same way that I'm breaking up my training I'm also breaking up my fundraising into bite-sized pieces. So my first goal is £50+ by March to support my EMA2Notts team. Beyond that the run up to September will see more fundraising events & opportunities to support me.
Bowel Cancer UK are the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care. They're here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
