When a mate tells you about a impressive triathlon event he completed last year you say, good effort, tip of the hat to you, I'm pleased for you. When a mate tells you about an impressive triathlon event he completed last year in the pub after a few pints you say, not bad...I can smash that! And so it came to be that I am competing in the 70 Wild miles on the 5th June 2010 - http://www.70wildmiles.org/GlencoeHome.htm
The Challenge
A total of 70 miles over hopefully not too many hours. The first section is an undulating 47 mile cycle, followed by 10 miles up Loch Etive in a kayak and a cheeky half marathon at the end. As if leaving 13 miles on foot to the end wasn't bad enough, it climbs over 1,000 feet - about the height of the Chrysler building in New York.
Training is going well and I've got a time in my head I'd like to post but like a lot of things, it's a little weather dependent. I'll certainly post updates on the training as and when I can.
The Charity
The charity receiving the cash for my endeavors is CLIC Sargent. A wonderful charity who support Children and their families through the pain and trauma of cancer treatment and post operation as well. I would like to encourage you to dig deep and donate, I know it's difficult but every pound is greatly appreciated.
