Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page….please dig deep and donate to this great cause.
I’m sure most, if not all of you; will know someone who has been affected by cancer. My dad has recently undergone treatment for prostate cancer, so raising money to support a charity such as Maggie’s Centres means a great deal to me.
When a friend and colleague discovered that they had breast cancer, 16 of us from work decided to enter Maggie's Monster Bike & Hike next April… partly as some sort of challenge to get fit but mostly to help raise money for such a great cause and show support to our colleague.
My colleague (who has gone through extensive surgery and is currently undergoing chemotherapy) has not let this stop her from signing up to take part… she is so courageous and I am sure she will not only complete the challenge, but also come through her battle with ease.
The Monster Bike & Hike is an epic 24hr event, which starts at Fort William and follows the Great Glen Way approx 75m to Inverness. The event comprises of a 32 mile bike ride to Fort Augustus - followed by an 8 mile hike to the Bronze finish, a 22 mile hike to Silver or the full 43 mile hike to the Gold finish at Inverness.
I may only be 30, but I am in no way fit enough to breeze through this - I know its not going to be an easy, but then neither is beating cancer. I am aiming (fitness and injuries permitting) to reach at least the Silver finish, and will hopefully get there within about 12 hours so that I'm not hiking through the night !!
