Story
So... As always, I've left it incredibly late to set up a fundraising page. But hear this! I'm running two marathons in October, the London Marathon this weekend (Sunday 3rd Oct) and the Paris Marathon (Sunday 17th Oct).
As some of you will know my close friend and ex-commune-pal Ellie Ball works tirelessly for Compassion in Dying and they do some amazing work supporting people through unimaginably tough experiences. I wanted to use my running exertions to help try to raise money for the cause.
Here's a bit more about the charity:
Compassion in Dying is a national charity that supports people to have a good death, whatever that means to them. When the time comes, we all deserve to die well. That means getting honest information about death and dying, and dying in a place of your choice, with the people you love, and the care and treatments you do or don’t want. Recording your wishes helps to ensure that happens, and we’re here to make sure that is simple and straightforward.
We think everyone should be able to write a living will so that their families and friends know exactly what they want if they are no longer able to communicate what’s important to them. The coronavirus pandemic has created a surge in demand for practical, honest support to help people record their wishes - donate today to help us continue this vital work.
A donation of any size has enormous value:
£25 could pay for five living will packs to be sent to people who need them
£150 could pay for a member of Compassion in Dying staff to deliver training to a care home to improve end-of-life conversations and help ensure people’s wishes are respected
More and more people want to have a plan in place if they are no longer able to communicate their wishes. Help us deliver practical, honest support today and every day. Donate to Compassion in Dying today.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
