If you are not familiar with Wynstones Steiner School (www.wynstones.com), where my 8-yr old son Gregory is in Class 2, then here's a summary:

It is a great community of teachers, parents, and supporters who work together to provide a safe, interesting, exciting, and motivating environment for the pupils. In this school, they are helped to develop their social skills, interest in physical movement, music, and art from an earlier age than in the normal UK state system and this early investment helps create a respect for each other, and genuine interest in all their school activities. This in turn leads to a greater enagagement throughout their education with their school, teachers, and compatriates resulting in self motivation, and rounded development, as well as good academic results. On their recent assessment, OFSTED were very impressed by precisely these points.

Sadly, Steiner education is not supported by a single penny from our state schooling budget and so the school, the teachers wages, and any investment costs have to be met by the parents and supporters who are often on very modest means themselves. The New School Hall is a superb expansion of the school to provide a much needed large indoor space for sport, meetings, activities, and events. Through the generosity and sheer hard graft of parents, teachers, and supporters we have raised the hall and have partially fitted it out. This sponsored walk is aimed solely at funding its completion. I hope you can contribute generously and even come visit on one of the school's (very social) events held in and around the hall through the year - you'll be made most welcome.
