In May 2013, along with a great many other people, i lost a dear friend, David Mitchell, better known to us as Beastie. His love of life was infectious and continues to be an inspiration to us all. A small group of us decided that it would be a fitting tribute to the big man to do something challenging to try and raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, whose support for Dave and his partnerJen, has been incredible, both before and after his passing.

Over the years, we've shared many wonderful weekends walking in the Yorkshire Dales and sampling the local hospitality, so we felt that walking the 81 miles of the Dales Way would be a suitably challenging and enjoyable experience for us, but most of all, would be something Dave would have loved to have done with us. He'll be with us every step of the way, spurring us on to the next pub and calling us all something unrepeatable and unprintable.

Eight of us will kick the walk off in Ilkley on Monday the 19th May finishing ( hopefully ) in Bowness/Windermere on Friday the 23rd. We are all the wrong side of forty so it's going to have a very "Last of the Summer Wine" feel about it, but we are determined to last the pace in what should be an emotional few days.
