Story
On the 4th April 2020, using an indoor rowing machine over 24 hours I will be rowing the 215km (134 miles) full length of the River Wye, which runs from its source on Plynlimon in mid Wales to the Severn estuary.
This is to support the great work that Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire, all their volunteers and staff are currently doing to help our elderly and vulnerable during the COVID 19 outbreak.
The team of volunteers and staff are working tirelessly to ensure our vital Information & Advice, Telephone Befriending, Help at Home and Independence at Home services continue to safely help the older people who are reaching out to us during these deeply worrying times. With your support we will be able to reach vulnerable older people across the two counties who are isolated with regular calls to check theyre doing ok, shopping for everyday essentials and crucial information during the crisis and to help deliver people home after a stay in hospital. With Government guidelines people are being told to self-isolate and distance themselves from others including family members. This is a very frightening time for many older people who are alone and afraid to leave the house.Your critical donation will provide advice and assistance to the most vulnerable older people in our local community during these uncertain times. Thank you from Age UK Herefordshire & Worcestershire
