Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When my daughter Kayleigh became poorly, I found exercise to be a positive way of coping and staying strong. Having started out as a runner 10 years ago, one thing led to another and I have been competing in Iron Man Events over the last few years. I am privileged to have qualified for the Iron Man World Championships in Kona, Hawaii in October 2022. Excitingly, my brother Stephen has since qualified so we will be experiencing this together.
An Ironman consists of a 2.5 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and then a Marathon. It will be an absolute honour to be there, and my goal is simply to cross perhaps the biggest finish line in long distance triathlon.
We are always grateful of the support our charity has and this is one of the very few times I am personally looking to raise money through sponsorship and all support is hugely appreciated.
I am splitting the money raised from this fundraising effort between 2 causes:
1. Kayleigh's Wee Stars
2. Ellon Wheel Park Development Project
Kayleigh's Wee Stars
Most people visiting this page will know all about our story but here is a bit of background.
10 years ago my wife and I started the charity Kayleigh's Wee Stars after having lost our 2 year old daughter Kayleigh to terminal illness. Our charity aims to take the financial pressure of families and allow them to make precious memories with their child. Over the past 10 years the charity has raised over 1 million pounds which has gone in support of terminally ill children across Scotland.

Ellon Wheel Park
Ellon is a community I have been very much part of over the past 10 years. I owe a great deal to Ythan Cycle Club both in terms of getting my into cycling, and also the club are massive ambassadors for Kayleigh's Wee Stars. Furthermore, their efforts in terms of trying to encourage, develop and support children and young people in cycling are incredible - indeed our girls Charlotte and Emma continue to love their cycling as a result of the wonderful coaches at QL.
The Wheel park is an exciting project for Ellon and aims to provide opportunities across a range of sports and activities for people of all ages. I would love to try and contribute in some small way to this project.
