Story
The war in Ukraine is a shocking example of how pervasive and destructive violent conflict is in our world. Alongside the tragedy experienced by people in Ukraine we see how such conflicts around the globe have a deep impact on our own society. Ukraine is one example to add to the long and painful list - Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Syria and many more.
Peacebuilders and peacebuilding are needed now more than ever. Over the weekend 16-18 September I'll be walking (and maybe running a bit...) 40km to support Conciliation Resources' challenge and taking my own steps to peace. I am proud to have worked with Conciliation Resources for 25 years and to lead an amazing team of committed peacebuilders. We work with people living amidst conflict to stop war and prevent violence. Sometimes the steps are small - starting conversations across a frontline; sometimes they are big - signing peace agreements. But at all times these steps need patience and persistence. Our partners pursue their work with courage in the face of many risks and we need resources to continue supporting them.
You can help me raise vital funds to support these peacebuilders around the world. What could your donations do? * £50 could provide training to 30 young people in northeast Nigeria helping them to anticipate insurgent attacks and prevent violence from breaking out.* £500 could be used to support dialogue between community leaders and armed groups in the Central African Republic, leading to a local peace agreements. Please help me raise money for invaluable peacebuilding work! Thanks.
