Story
There are currently 6.5 million unpaid carers in the UK (2011 Census) looking after a loved one who is older, disabled or seriously ill.
Lots of people in my family are carers; my mum for my dad and grandparents, my nan for my grandad and my in-laws for Jake's grandma before she died in 2019. I've seen how difficult caring can be and the toll it takes on not only the carer but those being cared for.
By doing the 6.5 Challenge I am going to be challenging myself to walk 6.5km, 65 press ups, 65 sit ups, 65 squats and 65 bicep curls every day in February to raise money for Carers UK. I've only started doing lots of exercise recently and want to use this opportunity in lockdown to not only improve myself but also raise money and awareness for Carers UK.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have a devastating impact on unpaid carers across the UK. After months of caring around the clock - often without any outside support from family or care and support services - many carers are at the point of burn out. Now more than ever carers need our help. With your donations, we can continue to do vital work to make life better for carers. When: February 2021. Visit the Carers UK website (www.carersuk.org/about-us/what-we-do) to see how your donations to my page help unpaid carers across the UK. Thank you for helping make life better for carers.
