Story
Back in 2008, I lived and breathed mountain biking, until one fateful day in North Wales. It happened so quick; one minute I was having the time of my life riding better than I've ever done, and the next I misjudged a drop-off, went over the handlebars and landed on a rock chin first.
I remember lying dazed in a ditch, where I was found by two fellow cyclists who stayed with me, trying to keep me warm, while a third rode off to get help. Three hours later, help finally arrived, by which time I had hypothermia to add to my fractured jaw and facial injuries.
But it is thanks to the kindness of strangers, the park ranger, the ambulance service, the wonderful NHS, friends and finally the Wales Air Ambulance, that I'm still here today to enjoy my love of cycling.
Ever since that day, I have donated to the Wales Air Ambulance in an attempt to repay them for their help and support. And so to add to that, I now plan to run the Cardiff Half Marathon in their aid.
I know that these days times are harder than ever, but if you have any spare pennies to donate so that Wales Air Ambulance can continue their life saving work, i'd be so very grateful; thank you!
