Fundraising for Anthony Nolan
As many of you may know, my wonderful Dad was unfortunately diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia late last year, an aggressive blood cancer with limited treatment options. One such option is a stem cell transplant, and luckily, Dad was matched with an unrelated donor of stem cells and will undergo transplant next week. Getting a good enough match is a bit of a lottery, and the NHS relies on charities such as Anthony Nolan to recruit and contact possible donors for future stem cells transplants. They therefore play a vital role in saving the lives of people like my dad.
I will be shaving my head on Saturday for a bit of solidarity with Dad, I thought I'd take the opportunity to raise further awareness of the brilliant work Anthony Nolan do, and put this link out in case anyone reading this wants to donate to such a brilliant charity.
Thanks,
Jon
Anthony Nolan's statement: Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
