Story
Hello friends and family. Some of you will know this story, quite a few of you won’t. Either way, if you could take a minute to read this, I’d appreciate it.
Back in 2019 my good friend Simon was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Unfortunately, after numerous rounds of chemotherapy he passed away in October 2020 having bravely battled his cancer for over 10 months. Despite all that he went through he remained positive and interested in what everyone else was up to until the end. He managed to take his family over to Australia for what would be his last adventure abroad with Gemma and their boys Dylan and Freddie. He also managed to marry Gemma, make the trip over to Cardiff for one last catch up with old university friends and maintain his healthy interest in sport (complemented by the odd bet here and there).
It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. I am trying to raise some money for a charity that is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means; Pancreatic Cancer UK. I will be running a half marathon on November 20th and would love to raise some funds for this amazing charity. If you’re able to spare something, anything, I’d be extremely grateful. I will also be donating.
Pancreatic Cancer UK are supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Please help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.
Thank you so much in advance.
Jon
