In October 2023, I ran my first ever half marathon. It was a brilliant day and we created memories that will last a life time, and we raised a lot of money for the Evelina. But I really struggled! My 14 week training plan lasted 5 weeks before I fractured my ankle, and that was the end of that. 

Against doctors strict advice, only 10 days out of my boot, and with only 2x 5km test runs under my belt, I still did the Royal Parks Half. Any semblance of time goal, and dignity went out of the window and I had to literally be carried down the last 800m straight. See the photo gallery for evidence!

As such, I feel like I have unfinished business and I want to get a proper training block in to then see how I might do. I still won't be setting any records but I just hope I can enjoy it a bit more and running past the Evelina Hospital (Immie's hospital) at mile 12 will be really special. 

I know it's a lot to ask, so quickly after I had so much support for the event in October, but anything you can spare will go to such great use and will help children and families, like us, who are going through so much. 

Immie is currently doing brilliantly well, and whilst we learn how to live with her condition we still get so much support and care from her team at the Evelina, whom we are so grateful for. This year I'm being joined by another cohort of people close to our family including my big sister (Donna) and great pals Graeme MacMillan and John Meehan. I couldn't be more grateful to all of them.
