Story
I'm running a Remembrance Day - 'Marathon for Breakfast' on 11/11/2015 to raise money for 'Soldier On' and I'd really appreciate your support. Find out how ‘Soldier On’ helps our wounded soldiers here https://www.soldieron.org.au/
The marathon will start at 0530 and finish at around 1030 at the shrine of remembrance in Melbourne's Botanical Gardens (The Tan) for the Remembrance Day service starting at 1100. I will shortly upload a route map with check point and expected times to my JustGiving page in case volunteers wish to harass me along the route.
I'm the only competitor! I'm doing it to offer my pain to those friends, men & women I served alongside, sometimes led and ultimately lost over my 15 year career in the military as well as all of those lost in war and armed conflict to date.
I will complete the Marathon in good military style with 50 pounds of weight (rounded up to 25kg) in a pack, in uniform and boots. I expect to be hitting an average of 9:30 minute per mile.
If you don’t want to donate then wearing a poppy on the 11th will be as good of a gesture as any.
