At one week old our middle daughter Dottie had a dangerously high temperature and was admitted to hospital. After inserting a long line Cannula through her ankle to a larger vein near her heart the doctors pumped her with antibiotics for two weeks while tests were able to determine if she had Bacterial Meningitis or the less serious and More common Viral meningitis.

Thankfully the diagnosis was Viral and she was given a clean bill of health. It could have been a very different start to her life and many other families are not as lucky as we were.

Charities like Meningitis Research Foundation do critical work to defeat meningitis.
