Unfortunately my mum passed 6 years ago from Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. From diagnosis to passing it was 7 weeks, such is the devastating impact of this pernicious cancer, once finally detected. Though a cure for cancer is an imperative, my experience was one where you learned that palliative care is critical for people in mum's position where they are beyond a cure. Sue Ryder and other charities do an amazing job supporting patients and families on this trickiest of journeys.
