Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Royal British Legion Riders branch (RBLR) plan to set a new endurance world record later this year and raise funds for the Poppy Appeal at the same time and I shall be part of it!!

The RBLR has teamed up with the Iron Butt Association (IBA) which specialises in long-distance, endurance motorcycle riding for the world record attempt. The RBLR and IBA plan to set the new world record by enlisting the help of around 200 motorcyclists who will complete a 1000 mile ride in 24 hours. The world record attempt will begin on Saturday 19th June and finish on Sunday 20th June.

The ride will begin and end at the Squires Cafe in Selby, Yorkshire. The route I shall be following will be to take the A1 to Berwick-upon-Tweed, then onto Edinburgh, then Wick, then back down to Fort William and along the M6/M62 which is just over 1000 miles. En-route, each rider must get a date and time stamped receipt from several petrol stations along the designated course, a map of which can be found in the photos section.

To break the world record of 1000 miles in 24 hours, each rider must clock up an average speed of 41.6 mph, which incudes all rest and petrol breaks!

Any money that you donate will go directly to the Royal British Legion Poppy appeal. All fuel, food and accommodation costs will be paid for out of my own pocket.

I'm hoping, through your generosity to be able to raise £750 for the Poppy appeal.

The Royal British Legion is a UK charity that provides financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.

The Legion was founded in 1921 as a voice for the ex-Service community and over 380,000 members continue to ensure that this voice does not go unheard. Although the needs of ex-Service people have changed over the years, they are still there to safeguard their welfare, interests and memory.
