Story
Dad died 12 Years ago today, the 16th June 2010.
13 years ago he was found to have a brain tumour and began his treatment, a combination of both Chemo and radiotherapy.
As part of this process he began to lose his hair, this was both traumatic for him and the rest of us as it highlighted what he was going through even more but, he’d been balding for some time- (he was in denial!) He wanted me to help and give him a haircut, by shaving his head and he carried on with his new and final look for the up and coming year.
It did however give us some quality time together, I learnt and improved a new skill to boot as his haircuts were better than my attempts at cutting my own hair 😂!
After the initial lockdown I got my hair cut and then took some inspiration from young Ollie Wood, who had been growing his hair for the Princesses Trust and I felt this would be a good thing to do and followed in his footsteps!
As time has gone on I have felt more motivated to keep growing by learning more about the great work this charity does. Dad was 64 and by that time you’d possibly expect a man of his age to be folic-ally challenged however, for children this must be a difficult process to endure.
When a child loses their hair to cancer or another condition, the princesses trust will be there with a free, real hair wig to help restore their confidence and identity.
They won't stop until the research that we fund ends childhood cancer forever. Promise. Please visit us at www.littleprincesses.org.uk to find out how you can help us give young people back what cancer takes away.
The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers. We receive no formal funding. Please help to raise money for us so that we can help more families.
And support my in doing so by sponsoring my haircut this Father’s Day on the 19th of June. It will be part of my Father’s Day gift to dad
Helping raise some cash for this wonderful Charity
I’m donating my hair and in the process going to be completely bald 👨🦲 so here’s hoping it grows back !!
