Story
In January 2021 our family lost our beloved Auntie Joan. She was the kindest Wife, Mother, Sister, Granny and Auntie anyone could have wished for. Our Auntie Joan did so much for her local community and was particularly passionate about charity work. Notably, she admired the work of the Great North Air Ambulance service and regularly set up fundraising events in their name.
The Great North Air Ambulance has helped our family on number of occasions; assisting both our Grandad and Auntie Joan. It is an emergency service to which we will be forever indebted.
Neither Laura or I are the world's greatest runners but we both wanted to honour Auntie Joan’s life with a challenge to raise money for a charity that was close to her heart.
Thank you for your support.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident whether that is on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre. The charity responded to 1,640 call outs last year* alone, via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles, where they performed treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
