Fundraising for The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR)
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Living on an island with very little traffic may seem ideal for someone fairly new to the cycling obsession. However, being such a small island, there is little more than one mile of road! With amazing views, cycling this mile over and again is no hardship, but every so often I feel the need for a little more tarmac!
So I thought, Landsend to John O Groats should appease the tarmac hunger and in addition raise as much money as possible for the Institute of Cancer Research.
I have chosen to raise money for ICR because I know so many people, young and old, who have been effected by cancer in some way. The Institute for Cancer Research is one of the world's most influential cancer research institutes. They have an unrivalled track record in drug discovery, personalised therapies and genetics and have made significant breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers.
However, more research needs to be done. Your generous support will help the ICR make the discoveries that defeat cancer.
I will be completing the ride during the Easter holidays 2017, this way we can make it a family adventure. Dave, Liam and Orla will be my support crew, travelling ahead in the hired motor home to meet me wherever we decide to stop at the end of each day.
I am aiming to complete the ride in 12 days or maybe a little quicker if the going's good! We will be following the quieter more scenic roads, taking in some amazing scenery along the way to take my mind off the arduous task ahead! I will keep you posted on the exact route as plans progress!
