In Memory of my lovely dad John Thomas Holmes (Jack)

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On August 1st 2018 my dad, John (aka Jack) lost his couragous battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). My dad was the most amazing husband, dad, grandad, friend and the nicest, most honest and genuine person you could ever wish to meet. He was one of the most intelligent, interesting people I know and I loved nothing more than sitting with him chatting/debating about anything and everything.
Unbeknown to us, dad first started with MND in March 2015 when he was tripping up, his legs were going numb and he was occasionally losing his balance. He got an official diagnosis on 2nd October 2017 and from then on it was a rapid decline. For us as a family, seeing our beloved dad suffering with MND has been the most painful thing we've ever had to endure and we pray that someday there is a cure for this cruel, heartbreaking disease.
MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and the spinal cord. It attacks the nerves that control movement; people can still think and feel, but their muscles no longer work. It kills six people every day in the UK, a third within 12 months of diagnosis and more than half within two years. There is no known cause and no cure.
The MND Association is the only national charity that coordinates care, support, and research for people affected by the condition and every penny helps. Research into this disease is not government funded so all donations are truly appreciated and will make a difference.
