The 20-day trip to Mount Everest will incorporate a visit to a school in Kathmandu to see how the money raised is being spent, followed by a 14 day trek to the base of the highest mountain on the planet at 5,500 m. This is the classic route of the first climbers such as Mallory and Hillary and we will reach the point on the mountain where today's climbers start their ascent to the summit.

For those of you who might say "It's only base camp", please bear in mind that base camp is situated at nearly 18,000 feet and is two-thirds of the way up Everest... this will be by no means an easy trip, and numerous people fail to complete it, due to altitude sickness or a variety of other factors.

On top of this challenge, I'll also be competing in several triathlons in 2008 - so you get multiple challenges for the just one donation!
