We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

Here is a very alarming fact; every 6 minutes in the UK, one
more person loses their sight. This means that every day 250 more people join
the two million people already living with sight loss. More alarmingly, this
number is set to double by 2050, which is why the incredible work of The Guide
Dogs is more important than ever as they make sure that people do not lose
their freedom and independence.

Therefore, I am so very proud to be supporting Team Guide Dogs
at the this years London Landmark Half Marathon on Sunday 1st August. I will be
running the half marathon with my daughter Holly as she will be celebrating her
30th birthday later this year and she has set herself the target of
completing two half marathons in her thirtieth year !!. We completed the first
half marathon together on the weekend of the 13th June, at The Norwich Half Marathon.
(The hottest day of the year so far, thanks Holly!!!!)

We must therefore keep up our training in order that we can
“enjoy” the London Landmarks Half Marathon, which was originally scheduled for
Sunday 23rd May but obviously, had to been rescheduled to August 2021 due to the pandemic.

I have just uploaded my Just Giving page and would say that
any donations to this wonderful charity would be very gratefully received and
will ensure that the Guide Dog team are able to continue to help change lives
every single day.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
