Story
Thank you so much for visiting our JustGiving page - and a BIG, BIG THANK YOU 🙏 to those who have already given and helped us achieve our initial fundraising target - with your help we’re nudging that target a little higher..
We’ve just returned from a truly inspirational adventure trekking for five days in the canyons of South West USA 5 days trekking and rocking 🎸in the Canyons... some 60km with long down goes and long up goes..Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon 🇺🇸 to raise funds for and awareness of the Love Hope Strength Foundations (LHS) co-founded by Mike Peters of The Alarm.
For those of you who thought it was going to be a walk in the park the challenge increased significantly as we pitched our own tents ⛺️ in the snow and darkening skies and trekked through the mist and snow down into the mighty Grand Canyon the next day....
*We hope you’ll enjoy the photos as we share some of the highlights of the trip - please share with colleagues and friends as we continue to raise awareness of this inspirational cause.
The Love Hope Strength Foundations in the USA and UK are committed to giving hope to people living with cancer across the globe. Through its ‘Get On The List’ programme, LHS helps identify marrow donors to match with those in need of a second chance at life. LHS also supports life saving and life changing equipment and special projects aimed at supporting some of the most vulnerable people affected by cancer. The LHS mission? ‘To save lives, one concert at a time.’🎸
We met Mike & Jules Peters 💞by chance only some three years ago at Stadiwm Zipworld, Parc Eirias, Colwyn Bay - a truly inspirational couple, both Cancer survivors and tireless campaigners. Since that fortuitous meeting we have taken every opportunity to volunteer and to support this tremendous cause.
All funds raised over the trek will help to fund Love Hope Strength’s three grants programmes:
a) International cancer care - offering love, hope and strength to families affected by cancer in underprivileged areas of the world by supporting new equipment, facilities and specialist services in hospitals and in the community (managed in partnership with UICC, www.uicc.org)
b) The Get On The List programme - registering people on the international bone marrow donor list to help save lives (managed in partnership with DKMS, You’ll find DKMS-UK option at bottom of web-page at www.dkms.org)
c) The new equipment programme - changing lives in the UK and US through the provision of state of the art equipment in hospitals and health centres aimed at enhancing the care and treatment people with cancer and their carers receive (managed in partnership with accredited cancer care providers in the USA and the National Health Service in the UK)
You can see more details of the trek on the 🎸 Rock The Canyons web page: www.lovehopestrength.org/rockthecanyons2018/
‘In the UK, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer, such as leukaemia, every 20 minutes. For many, their last hope is a blood stem cell donation from a selfless stranger. |
If you’re aged 18-55 and in general good health you could have it in you to be a potential blood stem cell donor. Please be assured that 100% of all donations received will go to the 3 grants programmes, as we’ve fully funded the total costs of the whole trip ourselves. ‘There’s no time like the present ... and no present like the time..’ (The Marigold Hotel) Please give what you can. Thank you Diolch o galon.❤️ |
