Story
Thanks for stopping by :0)
I am running in the Leeds Half Marathon on the 7th September (an idea which first came about in the pub, it sounded like such a great idea at the time haha) and would like to use this opportunity to raise some money for the very worthwhile Sick Children's Trust.
The Sick Children's Trust was founded in 1982 by two paediatric specialists Dr Jon Pritchard and Professor James Malpas. They believed that having parents on hand during hospital treatment benefited a child's recovery. The mission of the Trust is to provide high quality 'Home from Home' accommodation for families whose children are receiving hospital treatment for serious illness.
My reason for choosing this Trust is due to a very courageous little lady called Olivia Story. In the summer of 2006, Olivia contracted meningitis which turned into meningococcal septicemia. This resulted in her losing the blood supply to 3 of her limbs and having to have them amputated to save her life. Thanks to the Trust her parents Kim and Mike, were able to stay very close by for 5 weeks during Olivia's recovery, which I know helped massively. The Trust is soley reliant on charitable donations which help to make a real difference to the lives of the families that the Trust supports.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Sick Children's Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
