Story
John Caddy passed away 22nd July after a short illness aged 93.
Our dad was best known for the local boats that he built in both wood and fibreglass over the many years of running “Small Boat Company” on Commercial Road in Weymouth, and was a past president of Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce. He was also well known to many local councillors for his inputs and objections to harbour matters, good and bad. John spent most of his life working and living around the harbour, being brought up at 15 Hope Street, with his brother Brian, who was the local port pilot for many years as well as a lifeboat man. John was active in his latter retirement years, enjoying daily walks around his route, living with Mum, Joyce, next door to Ruth, in Wool.
John had a special interest in the Woodland Trust, and as such donations in his memory will go to this charity.
