My Story please read
My name is Jamie and I am 11 years old.
In August 2018 my Daddy had a pain in his tummy and he was losing weight. Dad had to go to hospital to have a camera into his tummy. One day after school my Mum and Dad gave me a cuddle and told me Daddy had been having chemotherapy. I did not know what chemotherapy was. Mum told me what it was and that it was making Daddy feel really ill. Dad went to see a special doctor again and they were very sad. Daddy told me that he had cancer of the food pipe and tummy and said he would do as much as he could to fight it because he did not want to leave us. Me my sister Becca and older brother Graham were crying and upset. Daddy gave us all a hug in the garden. We had lots of family and close friends Round on Christmas day and Dad sat with us for dinner but he could not eat because of his horrible cancer. All Dad could eat then was ice lollies and tiny special drinks that he said were quite nice actually except the chocolate flavour he didn’t like. In January 2019 Daddy went into Forest Holme for a few days. Then came home and slept in a bed that was delivered. Dad liked pushing the button to make it go up and down so he could see out of the window. My Daddy’s friends would visit but Dad got tired quickly and would sleep a lot. A nurse called Joss would visit often and Mum would phone her if she was worried. Daddy was in some pain and had kind of a drip which was in a box. Mum said it help his pain and sickness. Dad had to go back to Forest Holme and mum moved in with him. My godmother Sue moved into our house with me. Mummy said I could have a few days off school to visit Daddy lots. The nurses at Forest Holme were so kind and there was a lounge I could watch DVDs in or play games or drawing. Everyone looked really happy there. The lady who did the cleaning was there every day. She was really kind. Mum had a kitchen that family could use and Mum was even allowed to go to the kitchen in her pyjamas! Dad had a tv in his room. We used to take daddy outside in the wheelchair and walk up and down the road. Daddy liked being outside. I knew mum was with dad and I missed them both but I was happy that they were in Forest Holme as it is such a nice place. One night my older brother and sister stayed there too as Daddy was very poorly. My grandma and grandad were staying with me then. I knew daddy was very ill. The next morning my life changed forever. Mummy was crying and told me daddy had died last night while I was sleeping. Mummy and my older brother were with him when he died, and holding his hand.. My heart physically hurt and I wanted to go to heaven with daddy.. I love my daddy so much. I will always miss him. Forest Holme gave him the chance to be in less pain and just with his family and close friends. I could cuddle up in bed with him there too. And the kind nurses and kind cleaner were around . Thank you Forest Holme, we love you all.
P.s, We bought Forest Holme a big garden table and chairs in memory of my daddy. He loved fresh air and thought it would be nice for others to use it for that too.
