Story
At about Christmas Time 2010 John Kelly and I decided we would do something to raise money for the NSPCC. We decided to do a bike ride visiting several of our stores on the way. We eventually came up with the idea of tackling 100 miles in one day, starting at Ludlow, visiting Tenbury Wells, Leominster, Kington, Rhayader, Llanidloes, Newtown and ending up at Welshpool. Most people who we speak to think we are both mad, John Kelly only bought a bike last year to ‘Get Fit’ after years of smoking, drinking and swearing. He,s packed in the smoking , cut down on the drinking but increased the swearing whilst out on his bike.
With regard to myself I don’t smoke, don’t swear very often and only drink for refreshment. The problem I have is age, some of you may know this already this, as you get older the clock goes faster and the pedalling gets slower. These days the bike usually has an engine. I have paid my insurance up to date, in case we need a plan ‘B’.
We have both been out training in all weathers to try to get fit for the big event, 100 miles in one day on Sunday 10th of April, Starting at 7am and planning to finish at 7pm in Welshpool.
This is not a race as most people seem to think, so long as we both get there we will both be happy. Although in training we did resemble the Tortoise and the Hare!!
We hope to raise £1000 from sponsors for the NSPCC which is a well deserving Charity
As an incentive anyone who signs up to sponsor us will be put into a prize draw for a Sony Digital Camera.
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time and trouble to read this, and more in importantly please sponsor us for the benefit of the NSPCC.
Thanks Again
