Story
Hello all
Yes this is Beggers and I AM going to complete the Brighton Marathon on the 15th April 2012.
Have I ever run a distance like this before ? - Of course not !
Have my 44 years man and boy been working towards this challenge ? - you've seen me training in the Tirola bar,Sterns,Carioca,Chapmans and more lately the George and Dragon, so the answer is definitely NO !
So why stop with the smokes and the pints ? - My daughter Emily is going to Kibera, Kenya in March 2012. This is the largest slum in Africa and home to 1.5 million people in just 1 square mile of appalling poverty. With open sewers and poorly put together shacks the people of Kibera have a hard enough time surviving day to day - considering how best to entertain or educate their children is a luxury that few can consider.
Due to the epidemic HIV virus 70% of the children she will be working with are orphans. Emily is hoping to bring a little light to the children of the slums by means of an educational program involving sport and by taking sports equipment and clothes to the kids who have nothing but hope for a better day and a positive outlook that has put me to shame.
If you are able to contribute to this worthy cause I will ensure that you get an update on Emily's return to see how you have helped those whose destiny is in the hands of others - you and me !
Thanks for taking the time to read my page and any contribution is as welcome as the support on Marathon day to bring this mid-life crisis man over the line
