Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. You might or might not know our story. It starts in 1996 when I first met Emma, it started in a room at Castle Irwell as we were both starting our final year at the University of Salford. We fell in Love. We were married in 2000. Bought our house in 2001 where I still live. We were in Love. Life was good. Then in 2013 Emma had surgery for a large ovarian cyst. Inside that cyst we were later to find there was early stage ovarian cancer. 6 cycles of chemotherapy later we got back on with living, with being Love. We thought Emma was one of the lucky ones. In a way she was; we had 6 incredible years where we lived and loved but all happy stories have to come to an end at some point. Ours ended too soon.
Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynaecological cancer in the UK. Early symptoms may be subtle and presentation is often late. Because of late diagnosis and high risk of relapse, much of the appropriate management may be directed towards palliative care.
Survival from ovarian cancer has almost doubled in the last 40 years in the UK. The Eve Appeal are working to improve this...Please help them.
