Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Our names are Sam and Stuart Smith and we are from Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. We are running the Cheltenham Half Marathon on the 3rd September 2023. Our aim is to try to raise £1,000 for the charity Sue Ryder.
Three years ago we lost Richard Smith, Sam’s dad and my brother. Richard was just aged 50 when he sadly lost his battle with a brain tumour. This left a tremendous hole in our lives and the lives of all his family and friends. Richard was a lovely man and greatly loved by all who knew him. We miss him greatly.
During the later stages of his illness he was cared for by Sue Ryder in Cheltenham. Nobody could have done more for him or his family during the 6 weeks he was there. Despite his suffering we knew he was comfortable and content during his stay and could not have been better cared for. He was always expressing his appreciation for the kindness shown to him throughout his stay by all the doctors, nurses and staff.
Sue Ryder is a tremendous organisation supporting people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s respite, a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological conditions – they are there when it matters, helping people live the best life they possibly can to the very end.
We are proud to support Sue Ryder and to help them continue the very valuable work they provide. We have set a target of £1,000 and would ask you give generously in Richards name to support our cause
