Story
I am cycling 130 miles on May 22nd / 23rd from Shepshed to Norwich with a group of work colleagues at Williams Lea. The company has document centres at these locations as well as one in Livingstone, Scotland. The Scotland leg was just a bridge too far!! (and would have added another week!). Still 130 miles is plenty enough to get saddle sore....
I was doing this event anyway, but it has even more significance for me in memory of my Dad who passed away in early April whilst recovering from major surgery to remove a cancer. He had already endured living with prostrate cancer for several years before being diagnosed with this new cancer in January 2012. He was extremely brave in his approach to living with, and treatment for, these cancers and this is such an inspiration for me.
My wife's family have also been touched with three close family members affected by cancer in recent month's too, so this disease touches everyone in way or another. Unfortunately, in many cases the outcome can be the worst possible. I write this as we prepare for my Dad's funeral this week. We can only hope that the work that CRUK do along with others continue to make progress in treatments and prevention.
Your donations are extremely generous in these tough times and are highly appreciated. Thank You.
