I grew this beard for a part in Sutton Amateur Dramatic Club's production of Brian Friel's wonderful play "Translations".  I was playing Jimmy Jack Cassie, the intellectual "tramp". The play finished on 15 November and I intended to remove the beard the next day.  However, the ladies in the office in Oxted where I work said that if I kept it to the end of November (in the spirit of movember) they would donate to a charity of my choice.

Having established that they were not pulling my leg I agreed to do so and have been amazed by the response that I have had.  Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to this very worthy cause.
