Story
To anyone who knows me, running isn’t really my thing, to anyone who doesn’t know me, is distance running really anybody’s thing? So why am I signing myself up to this 26 mile test of endurance?
Well, I have a purpose and a strong source of motivation. The drive behind all of this is to give something back to Compton Care.
On 14th March 2016 we lost Pam.
My mother-in-law was a special lady, a kind and caring person. A loving wife, Mom and Nanna. It was a day that none of us could prepare for, a day that no one had envisaged, or would ever want to relive. It was a day that changed our lives.
Things would have been much worse had it not been for the exceptional help and support our family received during and after Pam’s time at at Compton. The devotion and skill of the staff was astounding. They gave us extra time and dedication that we would not have been able to have in a normal hospital setting, and for this we are forever grateful.
This is my (on behalf of our family) chance to give something back to this fantastic organisation. Anyone who has or will have a relative or friend in Compton will understand the need to support this amazing charity and will know what it takes for this place to keep running.
Compton provides free care to those suffering from incurable illnesses and offers support to their families with the aim of making each day in their care extraordinary. With only a third of their annual running costs (nearly £8 million!!) coming from Government funding I want to do my bit to support Compton Care and promote the undeniably excellent work they do.
So with that I mind, I would be extremely grateful for any donations you are able to make and for your support as I step outside of my comfort zone and take on this momentous challenge.
Thank you
