We are fighting to make a world where diabetes does no harm

Story

I turn 40 in 2013 and so the Brighton Marathon 2013 will be my big challenge to mark the waning of my 30s, and I am doing it to raise money for Diabetes UK.

I always dreamed of running a marathon at some stage; after badly breaking both legs in a car crash in my 20's I was told by my  surgeon I would never run a marathon and after suffering 2 ruptured discs in my back in the last 5 years it seemed even more like a pipe dream - I have a mind that is willing but a body that spends more time in rehab than it does in action - so this is going to take some doing just to get to the start line in one piece.

Diabetes is a condition that has in the last few years affected my father and uncle as well as one of my oldest friends, and I have seen the profound effect it can have on their health and lifestyles. So whether you happen to like me, support my chosen cause or dislike me but find the thought of me suffering through the training for this bloody race rather amusing (not to mention the day itself), I would ask that you please dig deep and donate now!
