Story
I had national support as a POW in an Iraqi prison in 1991. Now, I turn 60: a privilege denied to my friends and fellow aircrew who gave their lives in the first Gulf War. And many other RAF veterans, across generations and trades, who served and now suffer in silence. That is why it is so important to me to help raise vital funds. So, I am going to subject myself to some pain and running the London Marathon to support them. Please sponsor me
RAFA is the charity that supports the RAF community. They were there for us in our darkest days. We must not fail them in theirs. Not since WWII has the RAF been so constantly deployed on global operations – and across the generations, the need for support is becoming ever more complex. Over the Covid pandemic RAFA has seen 250% increase in requests for their support from veteran
community alone. And now, with the cost of living crisis, we must not fail them. Support is needed now to address this increasing demand…
When one of the RAF family needs a friend, they turn to RAFA. That’s because they can be there on the doorstep, in person, to help sort out the problem and share the load. When times are tough, nothing beats friendly face-to-face support from someone who really cares.
Whether it is an injured airman fighting to get back onto his feet, a young child missing their parents away on overseas operations or a WWII veteran needing a shoulder to lean on, RAFA is there to help.
