Story
For 3 days from 18th June I'll start dragging my feet along the Cornish coast from Helford Passage to Fowey. I'm not looking for pirates. I'm raising funds to help ensure more people with disabilities and injured people in some of poorest countries in the world can access rehabilitation care (physiotherapy, occupational therapy et al.)
Hold the front page, YOUR DONATION WILL BE DOUBLED (if you sponsor me by 18th July, www.everystepcounts.org.uk)
Whether it's someone that has been injured in a car accident, fallen during an earthquake or born with an impairment such as partial paralysis, there are millions of people who urgently need rehabilitation care. The trouble is, far too many people can't get it, because the services simply aren't there. If you've been injured rehab can be the difference between recovery or developing a permanent impairment. If you have a disability, rehab can mean independence for the first time in your life.
You can donate because I'm so unfit and it might rain; but I'm hoping you donate because you will make life better for people like Ramesh (bit.ly/1Wan0ec).
I'm doing this now because sponsorship will be doubled as part of Handicap International's Every Step Counts campaign. Here's some info...
In many countries, disabled and injured people struggle to access the care they need and find themselves excluded. We aim to raise vital funds to help them by supporting sustainable rehabilitation care in countries that need it most. Every step you take, and every £1 you give, counts!
Until 18th July, every £1 you raise will be doubled by the UK government, making any gift go that much further.
What your gift could do:
£30 could provide an artificial limb for a child .
£75 could provide an emergency wheelchair.
£128 could go towards providing an artificial limb and rehabilitation to a child amputee.
