another update: Alan passed away peacefully this evening at 10.20pm. Those he would have wished to be there were with him. He was grateful to everyone that has contributed to the sponsorship, as am I. I'm going to miss him...
update: ride completed by John and Phil... burnt to a crisp but happy that the fundraising is going well. £900 at the time of updating, still hopefully we can reach the magical £1000 goal...
The McEvoy brothers are joining in the annual Manchester to Blackpool bike ride to raise money for The Christie. The cancer hospital, based in Manchester has helped Alan since he was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was 16 years old, he's now 28. Sadly Alan has taken a turn for the worse over the last few days, with a marked deterioration in his condition.
Alan was delighted last year that I managed to raise just over £1000 in sponsorship for The Christie and I'm hoping that together with my brothers Phil and Paul we can reach that target again. Please give as generously as you can afford and my thanks, along with Alan's, to all that contribute.
The picture attached to this page was taken earlier this year when Alan dragged me kicking and screaming to the Island of Innis Mor off the western coast of Ireland. This was to attend Tedfest, a gathering of Father Ted nerds, he loved it, I didn't, as you can see by my face. Christies donated towards the cost of the holiday for Alan. They do the same for many younger people with cancer helping facilitate holidays and making final dreams come true. You can't put a price on what they achieve... .
