Story
John was a father of five and granddad of five too, leaving behind a lot of people who miss him greatly. By accident or on purpose he raised us all to (hopefully) uphold the name of 'Lant' and I feel we'll always been known in Cambridge as "Oh, are you John's son/daughter?". He was passionate about his work throughout his life and although we didn't get to see much of him because of it, hearing all the lovely stories from patients, it gives us all a lot of pleasure knowing he's helped and been caring for so many. Although we're all sure he loved us dearly, John had one true love in his life and he was always happiest while at sea. Sailing with him will always be my happier memories of him and to see him so relaxed and in his element (pardon the pun) was lovely.
After a life long career of giving and caring, we wish to allow him to do so in death too. With your generosity, and in memory of John, we can give the Brain Tumour Charity the resources they need to support other people who have found themselves so unjustly thrust into the same position Dad was. The charity is run 100% through donations and offer support to both those diagnosed and also all those who care and support for them.
Brain tumours are the largest killer of under 40s in the UK and 62% of survivors will be left with a life long disability. Although Dad was taken far too soon from us he was lucky enough to have a long and successful career. His career was in his hands and as many patients can testify, they did a pretty good job - so it was cruel to see him lose control of them so early on. Your donations will be going towards helping families with diagnoses parents that perhaps have toddlers, or diagnosed children themselves, and giving them all the support that luckily John's family were able to provide.
