Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September 2012 an opportunity arose to obtain a place in the 2013 london marathon. Not being one to pass a challenge and the milestone of my 50th in 2013, I put my name forward. Then it dawned on me, I was over weight (19+ stone), a smoker (40 fags a day), heavy drinker and totally unfit! This may have been the rashest decision of my life. Since that moment I gave up smoking and drinking, dieted and started a healthy diet and commenced training. At this time of launching my just giving site I am down to just over 14 stone and running 6 days a week. Three years ago I lost my father to cancer and intend to run the London Marathon in his memory. Cancer can be a devastating disease that directly or indirectly affects everyone of us, I will do everything I can to get as fit as possible in an effort to complete the challenge ahead and would be extremely grateful of any donations made on my just giving site for Macmillan cancer support. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. many thanks, John.
