Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you may know, my eldest grandson Robbie suffers from Infantile Batten Disease, which is a progressive degenerative disease, terminal in most cases by the age of 10.  Robbie has now reached that age and the fact that he has survived so long is in my opinion a tribute to the splendid care he has had since diagnosis.  Members of the Batten Disease Family Association have been most supportive throughout and the charity is actively financing research into the causes and potential treatment of this most horrible ailment.  They are making progress, despite the fact that there is no state aid and the charity has been entirely run by the parents of afflicted children.

You will appreciate that I want to do all I can to help fund this important work, and the Sponsored Walk is an annual event which in the past 3 years has raised most of the charity's income.  I have participated in the Sponsored Walk on 2 previous occasions and raised significant funds.  For that reason, I am reluctant to ask my friends to dig deep again.  However if you would like to, all contributions however small would be most gratefully received and I can assure you, put to very good use.
