Hello, my name is John Inglett, and I am a 56 year old male who has been living in the Oxfordshire area for the last 30 years. 

Unfortunately at the start of January this year, I unexpectedly suffered a major stroke on the right side of my brain, which has had a big affect on the left side of my body, losing movement and sensation. I had to undergo major brain surgery to make sure there was somewhere for the swelling to go. I spent 2 weeks in the John Radcliffe recovering from the surgery and then was transferred to the Oxford Centre for Enablement for 3 months of intense rehabilitation to work on the functioning on my left hand side. 

During my 3 month rehabilitation period I received excellent care, including extensive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and amazing care from the nursing staff. I will never be able to repay all their kindness and support but instead have decided to do this walk to raise as much money as I can to put towards new physiotherapy equipment for the gym at the OCE. They have mentioned they would benefit from a walking hoist which I would like to contribute towards. The cost of one is £5,000. 

I am now back at home with my family after a long three months!

Walking for me is not easy, it is very difficult, I have to use a quad stick and a lot of concentration to carry this out, with support from my family. I will do 100 laps of my patio.

Any donations would be gratefully received and would be going towards helping lots of other people like me at this amazing facility.
