But who should I dedicate it to? In the past I've dedicated books to my immediate family, much missed friends and (perhaps unwisely) the Greek Goddess of chaos and discord. I'd like to dedicate this book to someone who gives a bit of money to Shelter in the run-up to Christmas.

It doesn't matter how much you donate - any amount is much appreciated. Everyone who donates will have their name or pseudonym included in the 'thanks' section at the end of the book. However, I will also put the names of everyone who donates into a hat and draw one at random. The front of the book will then include an otherwise blank page that dedicates the book to that person - in all copies, always.

You can donate in your name, or in the name of someone you would want the book dedicated to - perhaps as a surprise. You can ask people to make a donation in your name, if you're not easy to buy for at Christmas, or you can donate in memory of someone you miss (we all know a book is better than a park bench). You can make multiple donations. If the name you want the book dedicated to is different to your own, make sure you include the name you want in the 'Add a public message (optional)' box when you make a donation.

Names don't have to be 'real', but I reserve the right to reject anything cruel or out of order. If you tick the "Share email address with John Higgs" option when donating, and you are picked out of the hat, I will contact you ahead of time to confirm the wording of the dedication.

Deadline for donations is midnight GMT 20 December 2021, and I will annouce the results in my newsletter on Dec 21st.
